Ways to use Creativity in Class:
- Do the demo in silence
- If they weren’t paying attention before, this will really get them as now they HAVE to! They will initially wonder where all the “noise” went.
- Act silly
- Wiggle your body the whole time, jump up and down a lot, do a skill and throw in some ‘spinning’ after; whatever you can think of
- Use funny voices
- Do you do great impressions? It doesn’t matter if it’s a new language, and accent, singing, or just some random voice you came up with – as long as it’s different they will pay attention
- Foreign Languages
- This may not apply if you don’t speak another language, or you can make one up but just another way to be engaging
- Whisper/Shout
- Preschoolers LOVE figuring out how their own voices work which is why sometimes they randomly scream something or whisper. Do the same thing while you demonstrate what you want them to do!
- Go really sllloooowww/ or really fast
- Just another option to make sure they pay attention. If you move as slow as a turtle they will want to know why but they will be paying attention. Same as if you go really fast. Just remember if you go fast you may have to demo the skill/station a few times so they can see it.
