Change it Up
As an adult, don’t you get tired of doing the same thing over and over? Luckily our attention spans are longer so this can be accomplished. A preschooler has a very SHORT attention span and thus, “changing things up” will help you maintain control
Don’t be afraid to stop for a minute or two to regain control. If you feel your class is starting to control you a quick game of Ninja Says or just a 1-2min Dance Party will let them get some energy out so you can refocus!
Give Up Control to Gain Control – Preschoolers want to feel heard! Ask them what they want to do by giving 2 options you have already planned. If they are able to pick what they want they will feel they have control. In reality you still picked!
